Ownership Changes
Below is a list of the necessary documentation for various ownership changes. Please provide copies of the documentation for the scenario that best fits your need for update(s) to your account.
In addition, when submitting any ownership changes, please include your owner number, tax id or last 4 digits of your social security number on all communications and send to Hunt Oil Company via mail or email at royacctg@huntoil.com.
Update my account due to a name change:
- An individual's name changes due to marriage or divorce:
- For notice of any changes, please provide a copy of a social security card, driver’s license, marriage license, divorce decree (including the Settlement Agreement) or any document showing that the name has been legally changed.
- If applicable, please provide a copy of any conveyances notarized and filed in the counties in which properties are located.
- Company or corporation changes its name:
- Certificate of Name Change and Tax ID
- Company or corporation's name changes due to a merger:
- Certificate of Merger and Tax ID
Update my account due to Trust/Partnership Change:
- Trust or Partnership is created:
- Trust or Partnership Agreement
- Copy of the document conveying the interest to a Trust or Partnership recorded in all counties where the property is located.
- Trust or Partnership is terminated:
- Dissolution of Trust or Partnership
- Copy of the document conveying the interest to a beneficiary recorded in all counties where the property is located.
- Changes in Trustee:
- Copy of the Trust Agreement
- Copy of the instrument whereby the successor trustee was appointed (i.e., death certificate, resignation of trustee, appointment of trustee)
Update my account due to the death of the owner:
- If the decedent's Will is probated in the state where the property is located:
- Copy of Death Certificate
- Certified copy of the Last Will & Testament, Probate, Letters Testamentary/Letters of Administration and/or Final Decree of Distribution recorded in all counties where the property is located.
- Notarized copies of executor's deeds or other deeds, if applicable, recorded in all counties where the property is located.
- If the owner of a life estate dies:
- Copy of Death Certificate
- The remaindermen address(es) and tax identification number(s)
- If the owner of a joint tenancy dies:
- Copy of Death Certificate of joint tenant
Update my account due to a transfer of interest:
- Copy of the conveyance (deed, assignment, bill of sale, etc.) that transferred the interest, notarized, and recorded in the county where the property is located.
