Thomas Cwikla
Executive Vice President, Exploration
Tom Cwikla is executive vice president of exploration for Hunt Oil Company and is responsible for all of the company's exploration activities worldwide.
Cwikla has more than 33 years of oil and gas industry experience. He holds a bachelor of science degree in geology from the University of Connecticut and a master’s degree in petroleum engineering from the University of Houston. He began his career with Texaco in 1978 as an exploration geophysicist working the Gulf Coast region of the United States. In 1982, he joined Hunt Oil Company’s Gulf Coast Division in Houston as an exploration geophysicist, and was instrumental in numerous oil and gas discoveries.
In 1987, Cwikla was made division geophysicist and in 1992, he was made chief geophysicist for Hunt Oil Company in Dallas, Texas, responsible for geophysical oversight of all of Hunt’s domestic and international exploration and development projects.
Cwikla has held numerous positions with the company, including general manager in Hunt’s Houston office (1998-2002), exploration manager for Hunt Oil of Canada (2002), U. S. development manager (2003-2004), general manager Hunt Oil Company of Canada (2005), business development manager (2006) where he led Hunt’s entry into onshore unconventional exploration, and since early 2007, he has directed Hunt’s International Exploration and Production, responsible for Hunt’s exploration and production efforts in South America, Europe, Australia, and the Middle East.
